Fans are eager to see the next installment of "Avatar 2" but the production team just keeps delaying its release date. According to the latest rumors, the film's sequel is being delayed due to "Star Wars." Others believe that it will not be a wise decision for Disney to release two of its big films on the same day, effectively dividing the fan base into two.
While the rumors about the apparent tiff between "Avatar 2" and "Star Wars" remains unconfirmed, James Cameron did have a thing or two to say about J.J. Abrams' work. Cameron critiqued Abrams' work on "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
"I have to say that I felt that George's group of six films had more innovative visual imagination, and this film was more of a retrenchment to things you had seen before and characters you had seen before, and it took a few baby steps forward with new characters. So for me the jury's out, I wanna see where they go with it," Cameron said.
Cameron also confessed that he is George Lucas' friend and refused to say anything more about the film because of his respect for J.J. Abrams. The director of Oscar winning "Avatar" revealed that he is interested in seeing what the production team is planning to do with its next "Star Wars" sequels.
James Cameron also admitted in one of his interviews that he does not want to release his film on the same day as "Star Wars." "My original plan was to release them a year apart, but we're opening that up. If for no other reason than that I don't want to land on the same date as one of the 'Star Wars' sequels," he said. "That wouldn't be fair to them," he even joked.
