It's not just Josh but his wife Anna Duggar who seems to pose a question mark to many sceptics. According to the most recent reports, Anna Duggar gave her cheating husband Josh a "conquering hero" treatment after he came back from rehab after the accused sex addiction case.
"It's one thing to forgive someone, but another entirely to bend over backwards to please the person who destroyed your life," reports media.
Last year's news is now a social media buzzword. While Josh Duggar got involved in a number of sex scandals last year, he spent almost seven months in rehab after he was found guilty of cheating on his wife and four children at the Ashley Madison hack.
"She lost a bunch of weight ... [But] she still feels insecure. She's been going nonstop, not only exercising but getting their house ready for him like he's a hero returning from war. It's really sad," says one commentator.
Anna declared publicly on the Duggar site that she had found last year to be one of the most difficult years, but she is weathering the storm. "Amazingly, I've found that in my own life crisis, God has drawn to me and my faith has been more precious to me than ever before," she wrote.
Surprisingly, reports are clear that Anna stuck by him all through his rehab and even stayed at the Duggar compound in Arkansas as he got treatment. Some even say that she blamed herself for his infidelity.
"Anna isn't the one who lied, cheated, and basically acted like the biggest hypocrite ever. Josh did that, all on his own, and unless he makes a huge heart change, no amount of being the perfect spouse on Anna's part is going to keep him from straying again."
Now why did she become such a consenting spouse? She believes that "he'll be less likely to cheat" again if she becomes a "perfect wife".
The question to be asked is: does he deserve it at all? Even if he hadn't cheated, why should Anna prove herself all the time?
Some sources point out that she has no other options but to stick by him. "She has no formal education and hasn't developed any skill sets besides those that are needed to keep a clean home and raise a family," points out one media source.
So what? Does a woman have no other option but to become somebody's wife?
