Paul Heyman is a promotion genius noted for masterminding the 90's hugely popular ECW promotion. He recently said he would want to see someone from ECW to be part of the WWE 2K17 virtual roster.
In a recent interview with Games Radar, the promotion pioneer would love to see Joey Styles in the roster of the upcoming wrestling simulation video game. He wants to see Joey Styles get all beat up by his client, Brock Lesnar.
"I would choose Joey Styles. Why? Because I would like to see Brock Lesnar 'F5' Joey Styles. I'd love to hear what it sounds like when you're in midair and you're coming crashing down to the mat and you hear, "Oh-myyyyyyy-God!" Crash."
Interestingly, Joey Styles tweeted previously that he, too, would like to see himself featured in WWE 2K17 as a commentator and not a wrestler. It remains to be seen whether 2K Games would want to add Styles for Lesnar's torture pleasure.
Meanwhile, 2K Sports chose Brock Lesnar as the game's main cover star for the WWE 2K17 video game slated for October 11 release this year. The former UFC and WWE heavyweight champion caused quite a stir following his announcement to return to the octagon in a comeback match at UFC 200 against Mark Hunt on July 9. Lesnar is also expected to make a WWE appearance at SummerSlam in August whether he wins or loses in his UFC homecoming fight.
"I applaud 2K Sports for putting Brock Lesnar on the cover, it's the smartest thing they can do for their merchandising, it's the smartest thing they can do for their license, it's the smartest thing they can do for their shareholders. The game comes out universally on October 11th, and on the cover will be BROCK LESNAR," Heyman said as quoted by WhatCulture.
Previously, the Beast also adorned "WWE SmackDown! Here Comes the Pain" on PlayStation 2 as the game's cover athlete in 2003. The only other time he's been on a video game cover was in 2010 for UFC Undisputed until today. As usual, Lesnar's manager is highlighting 2K Sports' decision in naming him as WWE 2K17 cover athlete with his typical bragging remarks.
"As the advocate for Brock Lesnar, I can assure you his embodiment of unadulterated excellence, combined with a Beast's desire to CONQUER all platforms in the gaming world, will make for a video game and supporting campaign that fans will embrace and absolutely cannot ignore this year," Heyman said as quoted by The Rolling Stone.
To date, the WWE 2K17 virtual roster includes 15-time world heavyweight champion John Cena, Bill Goldberg, Sasha Banks, and the Ultimate Warrior.
