David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, "Game of Thrones" showrunners, teased a possible delay in the show's seventh season this week. In a recent interview on UFC Unfiltered podcast, Benioff and Weiss were asked when the fans can expect to watch the next season, to which they replied that unlike previous "GoT" seasons that aired in April, this one might actually get delayed.
Why, you ask? They say, winter didn't come.
The premiere date has been hanging in the balance as the showrunners said that it will "probably be a little later" since the upcoming season requires cold and somber weather conditions, after all "Winter is Coming."
"We're starting a little bit later, because at the end of this season, you know, 'Winter is here,'" Benioff said on the podcast. "And, that means that sunny weather doesn't really serve our purposes anymore, so we kind of pushed everything down the line so we could get some grim, grey weather, even in the sunnier places where we shoot." Jeff Cusson, HBO Network spokesman, said in an email that for now it is "too early to speculate" when the seventh season will premiere.
After the recent Brexit issue, fans were concerned that it might affect the show's filming in Northern Ireland. However, HBO reassured its fans that U.K.'s decision to quit being a part of European Union will not have any impact on the show's production. Needless to say, HBO has already renewed "Game of Thrones" for its next season and the network is also expected to sign the dotted line for its eighth and final season too.
