Snapchat has rolled out a new update for iOS devices on Saturday and added “smart filters.”
The photo-sharing app has released an important update including a support for a range of new services, like swipeable photo filters.
Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel said in an interview with The Verge, “We just decided as a holiday present to the Snapchat community that we would put out a couple things we thought were fun.”
The update will let iOS users to use an array of filters, such as “smart filters” that can incorporate the time, temperature and how fast you are moving in the photo. However, Spiegel reminded its users not to “snap and drive.”
After downloading the latest update of the Snapchat app, users will have to go to the app’s settings menu and click on Additional Services to enable the new feature. Once it is enabled, try taking a shot and wait until the image appears. From there, the user will see filters applied to the photo while swiping the filters from left to right. It is quite comparable to Camera 360.
The most interesting part of the update, though, is the Replay, an option that will permit receivers to view one snap per day for a second time.
Yes, Snapchat is known and loved for its 10-second viewing rule for photos and videos, but users’ should not worry because even if the they can view the photo for the second time, the message is still removed from Snapchat’s servers after the first play.
"You only get one a day, so you've got to use it where it counts," Spiegel said.
Another addition to the update includes user’s option to choose for a font on their photo captions, facilitation of a front-facing flash for your “selfie,” and capability to set how many of your friends will be included in your “best friends” menu – maximum of seven.
