Latest shocking teaser image from the Fast & Furious 8 reveals a twist of fate for the federal lawman Luke Hobbs played by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. His July 11 Instagram post shows the muscle man wearing an orange jumpsuit and chained up.
The question looming on everyone's mind is how the all-clean federal agent finds himself all locked up in the much anticipated car-n-stunts sequel. A report by Digital Spy speculates that getting stuck in a prison cell may be part of Hobbs' undercover mission similar to Brian O'Connor's (Paul Walker) Fast & Furious 6 jail plot.
Another floating theory is that the incorruptible American law enforcer is out to get Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) who was last seen in Fast & Furious 7. The last part of the movie shows a prison scene where Hobbs escorted Shaw into the maximum security cell. Shaw threatened the lawman saying, "You do know none of this will keep me, right?" With equal fierceness in his voice, Hobbs answered back, "Well, once you dig through 38 feet of concrete and steel, my fist and a body bag will be waiting for you on the other side."
Screen Rant offered another explanation. As the report goes, it is also likely that Hobbs may have been framed up by the franchise's newest villain on the set, Cypher (Charlize Theron). After wrongly accused of a crime he didn't commit, Hobbs is forced to team up with Dominic Toretto's (Vin Diesel) maverick crew to clear his name.
Meanwhile, Academy Award winner Dame Helen Mirren will be giving Torreto and his hardened crew another problem. The actress will reportedly play a villainous role too. However, Dame Mirren won't be seen doing some driving stunts in the upcoming sequel, IGN reported.
Dame Mirren is largely known for her superb acting especially such as her award-winning 2006 film portrayal of UK's reigning monarch, Queen Elizabeth II in the movie "The Queen." Apart from taking on dramatic roles, Mirren also had her own share of action flicks notably with Hollywood action veteran Bruce Willis in the movie "Red" plus its sequel.
