The highly anticipated sci-fi installment to one of Hollywood's hugely successful franchises has finally wrapped ahead of schedule. Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) tweeted "Wrapped" when asked to describe "Star Wars: Episode 8" in a single word.
Likewise, voice actor Anthony Daniels (droid C3PO) also tweeted a similar message on July 7 suggesting that production has already been completed a day earlier. "Sad yesterday. I wrapped on Ep VIII. Thanks to ALL the team especially David & Joe, Kathy & Ram, Jamie & of course RIAN. I have loved it. XX," said Daniels on his Twitter page. Daisy Ridley (Rey) also announced the film's completion in an Instagram post with a caption that said, "My heart is brimming. #ReyOut."
The production of Star Wars Episode 8 was supposedly scheduled to end on July 22 but was wrapped ahead of time. An official title for the highly anticipated sequel is yet to emerge. Following early completion, there have been speculations of soon-to-arrive upcoming previews to tease fans.
Meanwhile, a London Star Wars Episode 8 wrap party was helped featuring the Emperor's Storm Troopers. As reported by IGN, the whole celebration took place at the London's Natural History Museum with. A group of dancers donning Stormtrooper costumes put on quite a show they danced to Beyoncé's music.
In another Star Wars-related update, a concept arts teaser on Disneyland Parks Blog suggest a possible Star Wars land attraction somewhere in Disneyland in the near future. If the rumors prove accurate, the sci-fi themed attraction may include some of the franchise's iconic objects such as the Millennium Falcon and various types of space vehicles. As the blog says, the Star Wars Land "...will be the largest-ever single-themed land expansion at Disneyland Resort."
The untitled Star Wars Episode 8 is expected to hit the theaters on December 15 next year. Apart from Hamill and Ridley, John Boyega (Finn) and Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) will take on a much bigger role in the sequel. In addition, a spin-off flick (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) explaining the situation before the events of "A New Hope" will fill in the interval between Episode 7 and 8 with its release on December 16, 2016. A Han Solo movie is being set to be made sometime in 2018. Other big Star Wars project like Episode 9 and Star Wars anothology film is expected to be rolled out in 2020.
