Season 12 of 'Grey's Anatomy' surprised us all when we saw Meredith hooking up with Riggs. But more shock is in store for Owen as he does not know anything about it.
However, when he comes to know, it is not going to go down well with him. As fans know, Owen and Riggs have a complicated past and for the most part of season 12, the two were at odds with each other. The animosity was not visible but the undercurrents were there.
Though Owen is trying to move on from the feud, when he learns about their hookup, he will be shocked. He might relapse into the enmity mold. According to reports, he will try his best to protect Meredith from Riggs as he feels very protective of her.
He was close friends with her late husband Derek and it is natural for him to get apprehensive when he finds out that something is brewing between her and Riggs. He is almost like a brother to her and would try his best to keep her away from Riggs. Last time he could not do it.
Notably, Riggs was dating Owen's sister Megan in the past and she disappeared mysteriously in a helicopter ride when she was flying to get away from Riggs. She had caught him cheating on her.
Of course, Riggs did not cause her death but Owen cannot help but hold him responsible. He has tried to be rational about it but now that another of his sister is with Riggs, he is bound to feel anxious. The hookup won't be easy for him to digest.
And similar will be the case for Maggie, Meredith's half-sister, who has a crush on Riggs. She has even told Meredith about it and feels that Riggs is also interested in her.
Well, the next season will definitely have Meredith's secret out in the open and it would be interesting to watch how Owen and Maggie react.
