Alcoholic Summer Drink Selection Differs Among Men, Women: Study

Summer is at its peak and a new study claims that people's choice of summer drinks may depend on who they are and whom they are with. In fact, the choice of summer drinks varies greatly among men and women.

The results of the Harris Poll suggest that the choice of the drink may even depend on what season it is. According to the poll, a majority of people who plan to imbibe this summer will look for something refreshing in an alcoholic beverage this season.

During the survey more than 1,900 drinking age U.S. adults aged more than 21 years were interviewed. The subjects included people who drink at least several times a year and those who plan to consume alcohol beverages this summer. The subjects were questioned online between June 27 and June 29, 2016.

In addition to the refreshing alcoholic beverages, people are looking for a fruity, crisp and sweet beverages. Apart from these, citrusy or slushy or frozen drinks are also in demand. According to Vice President of Nielsen's Beverage Alcohol Practice, Danelle Kosmal, people end to have specific choices about drinks during the summer season. They look for specific qualities in their drinks to satisfy their thirst.

Kosmal further said that a number of beverage alcohol manufacturers have introduced specific products this summer that align with the preference of the customers. Out of all the drinks introduced, refreshing hard sodas, wine in a can, outdoor summer lifestyle and catering to the 'on-the-go' have gained quick popularity across the country.

However, the study findings also suggest that the preference of drinks varies greatly among men and women. For example, women are twice as likely as men to opt for or demand something fruity. In addition, they are more likely to prefer citrusy, frozen, bubbly or sweet alcoholic beverages.
