In a recent announcement, DICE will be rolling out a new offline single-player mode for Star Wars Battlefront on July 20 free of charge to all fans.
"Skirmish" mode will be offering players a chance to play a single-player campaign in offline setting with two difficulty options- Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron battles. Moreover, a co-op split screen is available on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles.
"With multiple locations that span the galaxy, from the frozen planet of Hoth to the lava encrusted planet of Sullust, we hope Skirmish brings players a new way to enjoy Star Wars Battlefront," said lead designer Dennis Brannvall as quoted by Game Spot.
To heighten fans' excitement, DICE will reportedly hold free in-game events in summer including additional Hutt Contracts that offer players log-in rewards and latest weapons. Moreover, Gear Nuke reported that the Death Star DLC will become accessible to gamers with season passes starting in September. The new expansion content will feature new weapons, star cards, two heroes, new ground and maps in space. As for the character add-ons, one of them is purportedly a larger-than-life figure.
Meanwhile, more DLC game reveals are expected to be released livestream on July 16 at 11am (Pacific Time) during the Star Wars celebration. To date, Star Wars Battlefront has sold over 14 million copies which makes it one of the highest grossing game in the Star Wars video game franchise.
With EA's 10-year partnership with Disney, a sequel is probably on its way to development with DICE and Motive Studios working hard to bring the project into fruition.
"'Star Wars' has been a phenomenal business partnership for us. It truly has - and I think in ways that we didn't even anticipate when we originally signed the deal," EA global publishing director Laura Miele as quoted in a report by Ecumenical News.
