Manchester United To Splurge on Paul Pogba and James Rodriguez

Manchester United's quest to reclaim their position as the pre-eminent club in England under Jose Mourinho is well underway and if recent reports are to be believed that the club is going to now concentrate on their midfield options, with a splurge on Juventus' Paul Pogba and Real Madrid's James Rodriguez. According to reports published in the highly reliable outlet Sky Sports, "Sky sources revealed recently that Manchester United's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward had begun negotiations that could see Pogba return to Old Trafford in a world-record deal worth £100m, underscoring Pogba's position at the top of the Football Whispers charts. Despite Pogba's agent, Mino Raiola, saying initial talks with Real Madrid had taken place, and Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Guillem Balague adding that Madrid is the player's preferred destination, we understand the European champions are out of the running for his signature."

United are prepared to pay in excess of £100 million for Paul Pogba but more importantly, the club has also promised the player a wage of around £300,000 per week which would comfortably make him one of the highest paid players in Europe. Most people believe that Jose Mourinho has made him his priority this summer and feels that Pogba is just the right player to completely change the face of the Manchester United midfield, which is desperately in need of a revamp.

In related news, United are also in the running for Real Madrid's star winger-midfielder James Rodriguez and considering the fact that he is none too happy in Madrid makes this particular transfer rumour an eminently valid one. The player is unquestionably an immensely talented player and would add a touch of class that is currently missing in the United forward line. As Sky Sports reported, "The forward struggled to hold down a regular starting place at the Bernabeu last season under two different managers, and Colombia coach Hernan Dario Gomez has urged the 'world-class' player to seek first-team football elsewhere next term."
