A mom of four boys died of ovarian cancer in 2011, but two years later is still being the best mother she could ever be for her children.
According to CNN, Brenda Schmitz wrote a letter to a local Des Moines, Iowa radio station's Christmas Wish program. Schmitz gave the letter to a friend to only send out when her husband, David Schmitz, had found a woman to spend his life with, which was his new fiancée Jayne Abraham.
"About a week and a half ago, an anonymous letter was sent to Star 102.5 Christmas Wish. We've been granting Christmas Wishes for over 20 years and I've never read a letter like the one I received from Brenda," station manager Scott Allen told CNN. "Everyone, no matter the age, was moved."
The letter detailed wishes she would like to grant her family.
"Brenda had three wishes: a massage for David's fiancée; a magical trip for the whole family to create lifelong memories; and recognition for the team of doctors and nurses who took care of her at Mercy Medical Center," CNN reports.
The radio station asked David to appear on their show on Thursday for the Christmas wish program, but did not tell him who had sent in a letter for him. On air, radio host Colleen Kelly read Brenda's letter to David, according to CNN.
"My reason for writing is this. I have a wish. I have a wish for David, the boys, and the woman and her family if she has kids also. I want them to know I love them very much," Brenda wrote in the letter.
After receiving the letter, the radio station made sure to grant all of Brenda's wishes. With the help of local businesses, the station was able to fund an all expenses paid trip to Disney World for the family of eight.
