The Intercontinental champion The Miz spoke to DC101 this past Sunday and in a revealing interview, he shared his thoughts on a lot of things starting from his his match at WWE Battleground as well as many other things. Here are some of the excerpts.
When asked about his thoughts on walking through the curtain, he said, "I'm a nervous wreck. I feel like I'm going to throw up, I feel like I'm going to faint. There's just something about it, I get so amped up. I talk to myself in my mind and say, "Why am I doing this? What is wrong with you? Why do you put yourself through this each and every week? Why are you doing this to yourself" But once I go through the curtain and I hear the audience either cheer or boo me, it all vanishes!" However, the interview soon veered towards his Intercontinental title match against Darren Young and The Miz was reserved in his reply, "Darren Young is an up and coming star. This guy is very good in the ring. He's quick, he's aggressive and he's got Bob Backlund by his side. Bob Backlund, for those who don't know, is a 2 time WWE Champion and a Hall of Famer, he's a WWE Legend, and he's teaching Darren so much. But you can't teach experience, and that's what I have."
He added, that he feels extremely proud of being the Intercontinental champion, "When I was a kid, Ultimate Warrior held the Intercontinental Championship, Mr. Perfect held it. Those are the people that I remember and I want to be the person that kids today remember with the Intercontinental Championship. That's why I do as much media as I can, putting this title out there, showing people exactly what it is, making it the prestigious and honorable title that it is and that is deserves."
