Galaxy Note 7 launch is less than a week away but Samsung could surprise us all with a flat-screen device. Meanwhile, a teaser has gone online showing off the device's prowess.
Samsung's experiments with two Note 7 prototypes reported in this space earlier but word soon got around the South Korean tech giant dropped the idea of flat screen Note. Until a few days ago, Samsung Note 7 was expected to debut with curved edge display but a recently published video that purportedly shows the Note 7 depicts a flat screen device.
A flat-screen Note would run contrary to speculation of Samsung striving to make Note the de-facto successor to Galaxy Edge. The company did not launch an Edge + device this year. Tech pundits attributed this move to plans of launching Note 7 with curved edge display. A Note, launched exclusively with Edge display could also help the device better integrate into the Galaxy line of devices (Samsung skipped Note 6 for Note 7 to bring it in line with Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge launched earlier this year).
Teaser that went online yesterday has left hints to Galaxy Note 7 features. Viewers have discerned the Note 7 is waterproof, comes with an improved S-Pen and an impressive front camera. The new fingerprint technology is depicted at the start of the trailer.
Interestingly, a series of numbers up to five are shown, ending with a '?' mark. Viewers have interpreted this as indicator of Samsung teasing them to expect '6' edition of Note. There is wide consensus Samsung will call its next phablet Note 7. In fact, after posing the question, 'No' appears in the teaser as if to correct viewers who said '6' before 'Te' appears, to announce the coming of a new Note on August 2.
