Manchester United are all set to make a major splash in the transfer market this summer with the acquisition of French midfielder Paul Pogba and the Red Devils' captain Wayne Rooney spoke on the subject recently, stating that the player has 'unfinished business' at the club. Paul Pogba was a youth player at the club but moved to Juventus in 2012 for lack of first team opportunities and in the ensuing period he has grown into one of the world's best box to box midfielders. Wayne Rooney, the club captain believes that the player's failure to nail down a first team spot in his earlier stint at Manchester United would be a major reason why he would like to join the club and assert his status as one of the best midfielders in the world.
Rooney spoke to British daily The Daily Mair regarding he matter and stated, "I hope he is going to want to return to United and prove he's a top-class player,If he is excited to play for us, we'll be excited to have him back." He went on to add, "I'm sure he'll feel there is unfinished business, and it would be a very big statement by the club if they can make it happen. He had great ability, some of the things he could do, and he's gone up a level since he left us."
Manchester United has not been able to scale the heights that the club is accustomed to since the retirement of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013, but the appointment of Jose Mourinho is a huge statement that the club hierarchy are doing everything in their power to reassert their position as one of Europe's top clubs. The plan to acquire Paul Pogba for a fee of around £100 is a huge part of that project and according to many reports the club is almost certain to land their man in the coming weeks.
