Frozen 2 may come out later than its anticipated release date as the upcoming movie installment is reportedly facing budget issues and conflicts in storyline that filmmakers are currently working on.
The rumors were further fueled by Kristen Bell's recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel as she had only provided vague responses even announcing that the filmmakers are still to 'perfect' the movie's storyline, a big challenge for its writers to top up the first installment's huge success.
"We haven't started recording. We're just waiting to get our hands on the script. They take a lot of time over there to just perfect it. And it has to go through a lot of development to make sure that it's exactly the story that needs to be told. I hope we start recording soon," she announced.
Another source pointed out Disney's current financial issues which may lead them to delay or even cancel Frozen 2. The presence of other big live-action films like "Beauty and the Beast," "Little Mermaid" may also pose a threat to Frozen 2 as Disney may give more priority and budget on these two films first.
It can be remembered on March that Bell made mentioned that the writers are still in the works of writing the script 'doing tweaks' and had opened the possibility of recording soon. Since then, details of the movie production remained scarce.
"They've just written it and they're still doing tweaks, but I think we should be recording this month. The story is great, and they exude quality. What I know about that whole team is that they wouldn't just put something out to put it out," she once said.
Previously, Frozen 2 has drawn an ample amount of attention in social media as some fans are strongly urging Disney to make Queen Elsa's character have a lesbian twist as she is expected to reveal more in the sequel.
The hashtag #GiveElsaAGirlfriend started by feminist, Alexis Isabel Moncada became viral as more and more fans supported her to change Disney's classic storyline of princesses falling in love with beasts and princes.
"The entertainment industry has given us girls who have fallen in love with beasts, ogres who fall for humans, and even grown women who love bees. But we've never been able to see the purity in a queer relationship," Moncada once posted.
Frozen co-director Chris Buck is said to have shown some support on the lesbian version of Queen Elsa but he emphasized the importance of a decent message in these movies.
"When the kids [watch] them, they watch them over and over again, and if we don't have a decent message in there, I think we've missed an opportunity."
