Accusations of impersonation from a male model may deter Josh Duggar from making a comeback to television. Rumor mills suggest TLC is planning to reintroduce the eldest Duggar sibling but threat of legal action from James McCarthy, an LA-based model could delay it.
McCarthy realized last year Josh Duggar had used his images as profile pictures on OkCupid and Ashley Madison to attract women. He has expressed concerns for his reputation and requested Josh to stop using his images. This week word emerged Josh is being sued by McCarthy for an undisclosed amount. He is accused of causing stress, anxiety, trauma and dampening the model's reputation besides putting his catholic family in psychological turmoil.
Josh Duggar drowned in infamy last year when he was accused of molesting minor girls, including his sisters, as a teenager. His name also surfaced in Ashley Madison leaks and forced him to confess he had cheated on his wife Anna Duggar. He returned home earlier this year after a six-month stint at a faith-based rehab. Josh's sexual wanderings outside home had cost Duggars and TLC the family's hugely popular television show '19 Kids and Counting'. Jill and Jessa: Counting On soon followed but TLC has dropped 'Jill and Jessa' from 'Counting On', setting off talk about Josh's return to television.
Though it has not been confirmed by the producer, Josh's return to television has never been out of the reckoning. It is not hard to imagine cashing on Josh's version of what happened, given Duggars enjoy considerable support from fans who would want to know.
The second season of Counting On premiers August 23 but Josh is likely to be held back given accusations leveled against him by McCarthy. If the lawsuit goes through, this could be first time the law would catch up with Duggars who have been accused of shielding their son.
