The iPhone 7 is now an open book with broad consensus in the tech world about its specifications. The latest rumor on the block is Apple would launch the device September 7.
Apple has remained mum about the phone and release date but reliable sources are certain the phone would be presented at an event scheduled September 7. Pre-orders could start September 9 before the phone is put up for retail sale on September 16. All nicely fit with past iPhone launches.
Powered by an A10 chipset, the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 boasts 3GB RAM, 32GB storage entry variant, likely improved battery and improved cameras. Capacitive home button and removal of headphone jack have helped Apple turn the device water resistant. The bigger 5.5-inch iPhone Plus is expected to feature dual-cameras. Both phones are similar in design to iPhone 6S with the exception of home button and antenna lines which on this year's iPhone is rounded along the device's curves.
Surprises
Will Apple surprise us? That cannot be discounted. While we can claim we know nearly everything about the iPhone 7, surprises cannot be ruled out as Apple has not officially spoken about the device. The home button is case in point. While it was speculated early this year, such a replacement was not considered likely until recently.
Some surprises not restricted to but including a third iPhone 7 which could be tagged 'Pro', the possibility of the phone being called anything else but iPhone 7 as Apple is unlikely to call next year's device iPhone 7S and wireless charging are some reported likely surprises Apple could throw at us. A 256 GB variant may also be launched.
Pricing
This is a no-brainer if past iPhone releases are to be considered. The iPhone 7 would be released at the current prices of iPhone 6S starting at $ 649 for 16 GB. Though unlikely, Apple could change its pricing policy given the widely held belief that iPhone 7 will not do as well as its predecessors as it features a dated design.
