In the history of The CW and Warner Bros., the longest running series is "Supernatural." Though Season 12 is coming up but, it does not seem that it will end anytime soon. More so as it still has a lot of creative appeal left in it.
The CW chief Mark Pedowitz recently made this admission, during the Television Critics Associations' press tour. He added that he is happy with the creative director and also the actors, Jenson Ackles and Jared Padalecki. Pedowitz feels that in terms of creativity the show is doing terrific and if the ratings are considered, the "Supernatural" may outlast his tenure as chief of the CW.
Pedowitz further stated that the possibility of a spinoff is still there and it is just that it has not happened. However, he added that he has left it on the studio to decide. And whenever they are ready, it will be developed by the team. It is worth mentioning here that the Season 9 spinoff, "Supernatural: Bloodlines" had a plot which revolved around some supernatural crime families in Chicago. However, the spinoff was not at par with the expectation and failed to garner much of attention.
No further attempts were made for spinoffs, but it has been a hot topic for fans, who are looking forward to a spinoff.
Coming to the forthcoming "Supernatural" Season 12, it is all set to be a great season. According to reports, Rick Springfield will be taking over as Lucifer, a character, which was previously played by Mark Pellegrino. And, Samantha Smith will also be returning as Mama Mary Winchester.
Before the thriller-drama "Supernatural" became the longest-running show, another show "7th Heaven," on CW/WB, had the record run of 11 seasons.
"Supernatural" Season 12 returns 13 Oct, at 9 p.m. on The CW
