While the neighborhood thief of Bothell, Wash. has yet to be identified, she has been caught on surveillance video swiping delivery packages during the holiday season, KIRO 7 Eyewitness News reports.
"I was expecting a package that we ordered on Amazon and I went, 'Wait, the package should have been delivered already,'" local resident Dandy Weyn told the news station. When Weyn turned to his front door surveillance camera, a Logitech Alert system, he saw that many of his packages had been delivered on Dec. 18, but about an hour later, a woman driving a blue Mitsubishi SUV was seen quickly running over and snatching one his packages.
As it turns out, she managed to steal $140 worth of fliers and not anything of great value.
"I didn't believe it. I go, like, 'Wow. I mean, why would somebody do that and not even see a security camera up there?" Weyn said.
When he asked his neighbors, he discovered that he wasn't the only one missing packages.
"I assumed it was a mix up in the delivery until I started hearing that it was happening to other people," neighbor Sandy Madan, whose Groupon delivery was stolen earlier this month, told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.
Weyn has a plan on how to possibly catch the thief in the act, and has even taken to Twitter to circulate the mystery woman's image.
"I'm actually planning on a box out, the box is there but I haven't done it yet, and just put a tracking device in so you can capture where they're going," he said to the news station.
