Jaden Smith, more than just a son of Will Smith, has a lot to thank for his parents.
He emerged to be an inspiration to people his age with his flair for distinction and fearless approach to being different.
"My parents told me that the world was harsh and that we had to be strong within ourselves," he said in an interview with Variety US.
These words, he said, gave him a genuine sense of self-assuredness.
"I always knew no one was going to understand me - since before I could talk - and that's why I was so quiet. I was very calm, very to myself. I could tell I felt about life differently than other kids; I could tell by the way they treated me," he added.
His fashion sense is a reckonable force in showbiz.
His preference for skirts and dresses highlighted by his stint as a model for luxury house Louis Vuitton's Women 2016 spring campaign, his now-trademark androgynous style, and his daring choice for a suit in an all-white Batman-inspired design for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's wedding, made him the darling of showbiz headlines.
Having the likes of the Joker from Batman and pop culture icon Andy Warhol as style inspirations make Jaden's one-off taste fashion even more interesting.
Further magnifying Jaden's preference for the avant-garde is his clothing collection available at his MSFTSrep website.
"I've always been super-duper fly and super-duper different," he said.
He goes on to explain his collection's rather interesting name: "It's pronounced 'misfits.' I took the 'I' out of 'misfits' because we're a team and there is no 'I' in team."
Environmental concerns also have a place in Jaden's young, but ripe worldview. JUST Water, which produces water from renewable resources, is another venture he passionately highlights. It produces about 74 percent less carbon dioxide emissions compared to other bottled water products.
With that sort of perspective, Jaden's spotlight in showbiz is set to shine further. His current role as Marcus Kipling in Baz Luhrmann's hit drama The Get Down speaks volumes about his prospect of being the next big thing - if being himself right now still isn't big enough yet.
