Sherlock Season 3 Mini-Episode Premieres Showing What The Gang Has Been Up To

The BBC television series based on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famous detective Sherlock Holmes is returning in Jan. of 2014 after a very long and extended hiatus. Not only did the show end on a massive cliffhanger when last we saw Bennedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as John Watson, but the time in between the last episode has left fans clamoring for more.

Now, all questions are about to be answered and to soften the waters of the series 3 premiere, a new mini-episode has been released online. ***SEASON 2 SPOILERS AHEAD***

The 7:13 minute video reveals a bit about what many of the characters have been up to since the enigmatic death of Sherlock Holmes, who obviously didn't die when he fell from the hospital after being backed into an impossible corner by his nemesis known only as Moriarty.

Among those in the mini-episode are Detective Inspector Lestrade, who seems to be taking the death of his favorite consulting detective relatively well. Surprisingly, Dr. Anderson, the detective who Sherlock took particular pride in insulting while working cases together, has become obsessed with tracking the comings and goings of a mysterious figure lurking in the shadows throughout the world, leaving a trail of impossible to solve cases in his wake. The trail, of course, belongs to none other than the famed detective, who is clearly in hiding after his leap, but is making his way back to London.

"Many happy returns. Oh, and don't worry, I'm going to be with you again very soon," Sherlock says in a pre recorded birthday address to Watson, made before his fake death.

Watson is apparently grieving well. He's moved from 221B Baker St. and has a place of his very own. He seems to be dealing well with his ex-partner's death but his solitude makes many question.
