Theo James, Ruth Kearney Wedding Updates: Is Shailene Woodley To Blame For Delayed Marriage?

Theo James and Ruth Kearney have dated since 2009 but no wedding plans are disclosed even after their engagement last year.

Is the couple's hazy wedding date caused by a possible intervention by the actor's on-screen girlfriend, "Divergent" co-star Shailene Woodley?

We have known James and Woodley for their on-screen chemistry in Veronica Roth's sci-fi movie "Divergent" on their roles as Tobias 'Four' Eaton and Tris Prior, respectively. Since then, sources have reported that their relationship went beyond their roles -- they have actually dated in real life.

"They were holding hands and they even shared dessert. When they were waiting for the bill, James leaned in for a kiss and they seemed very passionate towards each other," as a source reported.

The rumors, however, easily dissipated when, in an interview, the British actor never talked about dating Woodley and had just talked about their friendship on the set.

"By that time we had bridged the boundary and the friendship gap and she knew how weird I was and I knew how weird she was. You're feeling each other out and what boundaries you can push and what ones you can't. But yeah, she definitely understands what a weirdo I am," he once said.

So, if not because of Shailene Woodley, what could be the possible reasons why Theo James and his long-term girlfriend have not announced a wedding date yet?

According to reports, the 31-year old actor is postponing the wedding as "Ascendant," the last movie in the Divergent franchise has not hit theaters yet. The actor strategically waited for the last installment for them to have no disturbance on their honeymoon.

Theo also has put devoted attention to the much-coveted James Bond role after the announcement that Daniel Craig will be retiring from his OO7 role, prompting moviemakers to look for the next Bond.

Ruth Kearney is also busy with her own movie projects with over Netflix's mini-series "Flaked."

Meanwhile, plans to convert Allegiant into a movie series have recently surfaced. Fans of the Four-Tris tandem, however, may be disheartened to know that some other actors may take the place of their idols' roles.

In a previous interview, the Fault In Our Stars actress expressed her discomfort with the idea of being involved in an Allegiant TV series.

"I don't think it gives me more breathing room. It gives the director and the writer and the producers breathing room - to come up with more story. The hard thing is there's not enough content in Allegiant to make two films," she said.
