"The Young and the Restless" fans have been wondering about the fate of Adam Newman ever since he escaped again after getting captured on Tuesday's episode. His prison break story is the hot topic of discussion among viewers and looks like there are many possible ends to the story.
If one thinks logically, he will remain missing for some time, reports state. In future, he might be captured or killed off. His storyline is an open-ended mystery as of now and though it is going to be difficult for viewers of "The Young and the Restless" to deal with this secretive plot, soap opera writers are pretty comfortable with such plots and have handled escape stories of characters multiple times.
The "The Young and the Restless" writing staff is also adept at this business. The soap opera has witnessed the demise and missing stories of a fair number of characters in the past. Viewers are also aware that characters can be killed off or sent on mysterious exiles, with a prospect of return or no-return. At times, intentional mysteries have also surfaced and this might be the case with Adam (Justin Hartley) at present.
It may be mentioned here that Hartley has a show coming up on NBC and if it manages to become a hit, he might leave "The Young and the Restless." Notably, a casting call has been given out for a "Dean" character and the description matches Adam quite well. So, is it that viewers will be seeing a new Adam once again (remember the horrible Michael Muhney incident)?
It is, however, not confirmed. If the recast feels impractical to the showrunners, there are high chances that they will refrain from getting another actor to replace him, leaving them with only one option, which is to kill him off permanently. This is indeed a little painful but then there have been countless instances where characters have been killed off and shows have continued to move on with their successful streak.
"The Young and the Restless" might also resort to such a thing but it will take some time before viewers become privy with Adam's fate and until that time, the mystery will continue.
