“The Winds of Winter” Release Date Rumors: George R. R. Martin to release the book in 2017? Will Daenerys lose her sanity?

George R. R. Martin's much-awaited book, "The Winds of Winter" may release in 2017. It is speculated that the length of the book is the reason behind the delay, but fans also think that rather than making appearances at conventions, had the author focused on writing, it would speed up the entire process.

Fans have been eagerly waiting for "The Winds of Winter," but even after five years, Martin has not been able to give a date about when the book will be released. Recently, Martin attended the 74th World Science Fiction Convention (Worldcon) 2016, held at the Kansas City but much to the dismay of fans, he did not reveal when the release of "The Winds of Winter" can be expected.

However, reports suggest that the delay is due to the length of the book and it is being dubbed to be the longest in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. These speculations are based on the length of the earlier books. "A Game of Thrones," the first book had 704 pages and was released in the Aug. 1996. In July 2011, the last book released, "A Dance with Dragons" had 1040 pages. So, possibly "The Winds of Winter" will be the longest of them all.

Fans are concerned about the fate of "The Winds of Winter" and also the next in the series, "A Dream of Spring" as Martin is giving all his time to make public appearances. Many feel that Martin should focus on the completion of the book as it has been five long years and yet the release date has not been announced by the author.

In other news, it is rumored that stress of being a ruler will take its toll on Daenerys Targaryen in the TV series, "Game of Thrones" and she may lose her sanity, like King Aerys II Targaryen, her father. Daenerys will be returning to Westeros with a lot of power and to attain her goals, she can go to any extent, so a bloody war might be in the offing.

As far as the TV series is concerned, the upcoming season will reveal the fate of Daenerys. But, coming to "The Winds of Winter," hopefully, the author will release the book before fans lose interest and move on.
