Apple's September iPhone 7 event is unlikely to feature MacBooks, which could be unveiled in October.
The company sent out press invites to its September 7 event, widely believed to witness launch of a new iPhone. While unveiling of new MacBooks cannot be discounted at the event, Apple is likely to hold off any MacBook related announcements until October, new reports suggest. The September 7 event is scheduled at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, San Francisco.
MacBook Pro 2016 is among the most anticipated devices this year given that its design has remained unrevised since 2012 despite yearly hardware refreshments. After releasing a revamped MacBook this year, Apple fueled speculation of MacBook Pro 2016 launch with similar design. The MacBook is available with 12-inch screen, packed in a 0.35 cm thick body.
Apple's MacBook Pro is expected to be upgraded with Skylake processors and could feature the same minimalist design of MacBook with one USB-C port for all connectivity purposes. MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to arrive in 13-inch and 15-inch variants. Touch ID and an OLED screen on the keyboard are other rumored additions in the new MacBook.
Recent reports also suggest the coming of an upgraded MacBook Air, which was written off earlier this year. After Apple upgraded the MacBook, the 'Air' brand of laptops seemed redundant given that MacBook is everything the 'Air' is not. We believe MacBook Air metamorphosing to resemble MacBook may not immensely benefit Apple.
Though Apple has kept September events exclusive to iPhone releases, last year proved an exception when Apple launched the iPad Pro and fourth generation of Apple TV with iPhone 6S. We think Apple will do an October event to announce MacBook Pro 2016, a refreshed iMac and a 5k monitor that the company is said to have developed with LG.
