IPhone 7 to Be Supported by 2 TB iCloud Storage

As the day of the launch of IPhone 7 approaches, more and more announcements are being made about the different changes that are being made by Apple in order to make the user experience a far more gratifying one. In a new announcement, Apple has stated that the company's iCloud would now be able to offer storage options of as much a 2 TB. In a post on their website, the company stated, "You can upgrade your iCloud storage plan from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC, and you can choose a total of 50GB, 200GB, 1TB, or 2TB. After you upgrade, we'll bill you monthly." The post added, "If you purchased a monthly plan before September 16, 2015, your account was upgraded automatically. If you're currently on an annual plan, you'll continue to renew annually at that rate. If you select a new monthly plan, your annual plan won't be available to you."

A report on the website The Verve further broke down the implications of the announcement, "Apple has introduced a new storage tier for iCloud that grants 2TB of space for $19.99 a month. This pricing is similar to Google Drive's terabyte pricing, which starts at $9.99 a month for 1TB, and is slightly more than Microsoft's 1TB plan for $6.99 a month. Apple's new plan is not replacing a previous one, so you'll still be able to pay $0.99 a month for 50GB, $2.99 for 200GB, or $9.99 for 1TB. Mac and iOS users who don't pay for iCloud also get a default amount of 5GB for free.

For those who like to read into subtle Apple moves, the timing of this change could indicate a new storage tier for the upcoming iPhone 7. Apple is set to announce the device, as well as the larger iPhone 7 Plus, next week on September 7th. Given that the largest iCloud storage tier has always been eight times that of the largest capacity iPhone, there is a possibility we may see a new 256GB iPhone 7 Plus announced. 9to5Mac points to an iPhone component leakthat suggests this could be the case as well. There is also a 256GB model of the iPad Proalready on sale today. Yet with cloud storage as cheap as it is, it's not clear anyone needs an iPhone that big."
