The Netflix show Stranger Things has been the show of the summer and could quite possibly be the show of the year, considering the sort of following it has garnered and in welcome news, Netflix renewed the show for another season yesterday. However, what might come as a bit of a surprise for most fans is the fact that the creators of the show, the Duffer Brothers, have already dropped some spoilers and although they have not explicitly revealed the storyline; viewers can at least have an idea of what to expect in the second season.
The duo spoke to Entertainment Weekly, following the news of the renewal. On the characters in the 2nd season and their development, Ross Duffer said. "I think we talked like a larger time jump where the kids are older now and it's a different decade. That's something we batted around from the very beginning. But for us, there's still more story here [in the 1980s], there's still things that are unresolved." When asked about 'Eleven', he said, "We don't know about Eleven. We leave that up in the air." However, Matt Duffer added, "There's going to be a lot of new and interesting dynamics that we didn't see in season 1," They also told Entertainment Weekly that there will be 4 new characters in the new season.
However, the thing that fans would be more interested in is whether the second season would explore the 'upside' to a higher degree in the new season and the Duffer Brothers said that they would. Matt Duffer said, "We kinda just peeled back the curtain and revealed a tiny bit of the Upside Down.So we definitely want to explore a little bit more. There's a lot we don't know about the Upside Down at the end of season 1." Ross added, "We obviously have this gate to another dimension, which is still very much open in the town of Hawkins. And a lot of questions there in terms of, if the Monster is dead, was it a singular monster? What else could be out there? We really don't go in there much until they go in to find Will at the end. So we've opened up this doorway, and to us it's exciting to talk about, like, what else is behind there? There's a lot more mystery there to be solved." Last but not the least, the second season will consist of 9 episodes instead of 8.
