A 17-year-old high school baseball star admitted to "brutally killing" his mother on Christmas Eve, leaving authorities to discover her beaten to death with a knife sticking out of her eye socket, the New York Post reported.

William Brandon Aydelott was arrested on Tuesday night and charged with premediated murder for the death of his mother, Sharon Aydelott, who was a teacher at Holley-Navarre Middle School.

"This is a sad day for that family," said Tim Wyrosdick, superintendent of Santa Rosa County schools.

"It was very brutal, very heinous," Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Rich Aloy told The Pensacola News Journal. "Brutal is the only way to describe it."

A call was made to the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office after someone discovered the boy's mother in her home. When authorities arrived, they saw the front door smeared in blood.

The Sheriff's Office said she had been stabbed several times and cut in her throat. She was also apparentely beaten with a baseball bat.

After he killed his mother, William escaped to the home where he had been staying since September following a fight with his mother. He eventually agreed to be questioned by police where he admitted committing the crime.

When the boy showed up at the station, he was reportedly in clean clothes though dried blood remained on his wrist. Reports also say he was calm and emotionless during the questioning.

According to The Daily Mail, the teen was a pitcher who could throw 80 miles per hour and was being scouted by several college teams.

On Wednesday, he was being held at Santa Rosa County Jail with no bail set yet.

A crisis support center is being set up at the school Sharon Aydelott was teaching at. She had been there since 1998.
