The competition is real and tight between two of the largest game players in the smartphone industry. Apple and Samsung have been competing each other for the top spot, constantly overthrowing each other with new launches of smartphones, phablets and tablets.
Last Sept. 7, Apple launched its newest flagship smartphone, iPhone 7. Apple CEO Tim Cook dubbed it as the best smartphone yet and as of now.
But how long can Apple claim and retain the title? Especially now that there are already speculations and rumors that Samsung is currently developing the all-new Samsung Galaxy S8.
Unlike with its predecessors that came in two variants (Galaxy and Galaxy Edge), Galaxy S8 Edge will become the standard and will change its name to Galaxy S8. Head of Samsung's mobile business, Koh Dong-jin, stated that the edge display will be the distinctiveness and character of the whole Galaxy S smartphone line-up.
As for the design, the South-Korean tech giant will most likely not wander away from its existing metal and glass design. For the camera, Samsung will follow Huawei, LG and Apple and will incorporate dual-lens camera for greater image.
Display will follow Galaxy S7 at 5.5 in but will be 4K-capable in order to provide a better and full Gear VR experience. The tech company will also have to improve S8's battery life if they will pursue the 4K display since 4K resolutions will greatly deplete battery life.
There are also speculations that Samsung may revamp the idea of a Galaxy S Mini in the form of Galaxy S8 Mini.
Samsung Galaxy S8 will most likely be launched on Feb. 26, 2017, as predicted by PC Advisor. This is following Samsung's trend of launching a new Galaxy phone every year from 2010 (Galaxy S) to 2016 (Galaxy S7) before or during the Mobile World Congress.
