Nowadays, UFOs seem to be the hot topic, especially as experts too are wondering if there isn't something in rumors after all. A number of UFO sightings are being reported everywhere.
At Salt Lake City, a 37-year-old Utah resident said that he saw a "black, disc-shaped" object splitting into three, coalescing again and then flying out of sight.
He filed a report of what he saw into the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) website on August 12. He said he was driving with a carload of passengers---a 24-year-old sister, 27-year-old brother and two sons, aged 8 and 10.
"I was the first to notice a black object in the sky which seemed to be about three miles away, and about 1,500 feet off the ground," he said. "I made a joke to my boys to look there was a UFO."
The entire family just erupted into a laugh and a joke---countering that it was only a cloud. They all seemed to be of one mind, but soon began to get their doubts, because they watched it for quite some time, and noticed that as they neared it, "it seemed to have more defined edges and was solid."
Anyway, they were all jointly inclined to do something together about it. It was thus telephones out and cameras clicking madly. They found that their images were not too clear or good because they were shooting with cell phones in twilight. They clicked a number of pictures, but found that the objects had split into three "black classic UFO-shaped objects" that soon came together and became two objects, and then one once more.
However, the man clarified "I did not see them separate or come back together if that is in fact how they became three and then one."
That was when the object began to float away, with greater speed north towards Ogden, and soon it was gone. The writer and his brother estimated it to be 500 yards across and about half the height.
"We all at first were not excited about what we were watching, but slowly realized it was no cloud and then when there were three horizontally and evenly spaced apart about 600 yards, we became real excited and, kids a little scared. I don't know what it was, but I know it was unusual. There was never a light on the objects. Just black."
MUFON explains that the incident is being investigated by Field Investigators Dean Troili and Nathan Cowlishaw. However, the website is also quick to add: "Please remember that most UFO sightings can be explained as something natural or man-made."
The sceptics, as usual, have a lot to say. One commentator wrote that it seemed to be a helicopter. Most people would call it just a big bird.
