"Fifty Shades Darker" is the second film from the E.L. James "Fifty Shades" trilogy, adapted from the novel of same name. After tantalizing the fans with their torrid love affair in "Fifty Shades of Grey," Christian and Ana are back again, and this time raunchier and edgier than the first installment.
In the second installment, fans will see number of new characters, including Elena (Kim Basinger), the woman who taught Grey to be the man that he is today. There will also be Dr. Flynn (Hugh Dancy), Grey's shrink, who is helping him leave his corrosive lifestyle behind and become a responsible adult. The fans will also meet Jack Hyde (Eric Johnson) who will play Ana's boss in her new job.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is a lot about Christian Grey's past and Ana's attempt to just get on with her life after she broke up with him in the previous film, following his BDSM addiction. As he tries to woo Ana back into his life, she agrees to give him another chance, albeit on a condition that there will be no rules, punishments and secrets. As the couple finally starts to rebuild their trust, Grey's shadowy past returns to hound the two and devastate their dreams of an unwavering future together.
"Fifty Shades Darker" is a lot steamier than the first film and was written by a new writer, Niall Leonard, E.L. James' husband. For direction, James Foley of "House of Card" fame was roped in.
The movie scheduled for Feb. 10, 2016 release, just in time for Valentine's Day and the final part, "Fifty Shades Freed," will follow a year after that. Jamie Dornan, recently claimed that after playing Christian Grey back-to-back for three films, he is ready to bid his character farewell.
