Adhering to its vision of innovating technological gadgets with thinner and lighter design, Apple might be introducing a single USB-C port to handle data transfer, charging, and headphone jack for its new MacBook Pro lineup.
People have been talking about the possibility that Apple will turn jackless and chopped-off the headphone jack in the new MacBook Pro following the release of iPhone7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Reports stated that the billion-dollar company is conducting a survey and asking Apple product users about the way they use their Macbook Pro. One of the questions reads, "Do you ever use the headphone port on your MacBook Pro with Retina display?" hereby suggesting that Apple is exploring going jackless with its laptops in the future.
As per the report of Business Insider, the new MacBook Pro will likely to use USB-C ports for connecting all external devices including external hard drives and anything else that users usually connect to their computers.
The report added that USB-C would allow faster data transfer speeds and the users could have all their legacy peripherals connect to a single adapter rather than having multiple cables. It is, however, a pain for devices and peripherals that do not use USB-C, requiring an adapter to connect and plug into your MacBook Pro.
Furthermore, USB-C will also be used for charging which might not be practical considering that the power connectors used in current MacBook Pros are safer against USB-C cables.
Rumors have it that Apple will integrate Thunderbolt 3 technology in the new MacBook Pro, a spokesperson however said that "we do not talk about things that may lie ahead."
Since there are no official details that were released yet about the new Macbook Pro, this is but a speculation. An earlier report of Headline and Global News featured rumored specs for the upcoming Apple product including an OLED-based touchscreen panel to replace the standard F-key functions, a Touch ID that can scan fingerprints to log in, and a new hardware feature as well that is the hinges will feature a metal injection molding mechanism.
