The absence of an album in 2016 and some dismal gigs during the scoring period have kept Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers III, out of the Forbes 2016 Celebrity 100 list. While the rapper's net worth for the June-to-June period was not revealed, it is enough to note that his financial total has gone below $30.5 million, the last figure on the top list which is co-held by model Gisele Bundchen and singer Britney Spears.
The multi-awarded rapper has co-headlined the six-show Monster Tour with Rihanna wherein the two averaged around US$5 million per gig. Their couple of shows at Metlife Stadium have grossed a total of US$12.4 million which is slightly better that what Beyonce and Jay Z tallied at the same venue.
Eminem is one of the biggest recording artists in the world. He has sold over 115 million albums to go with over 120 million singles globally. His longevity has been impressive since he is among the world's most bankable recording artists 15 years after releasing a first major studio album.
The rapper's big break comes in during a freestyle competition called Rap Olympics in Los Angeles. Although he ended up second, Interscope Records personnel are in attendance at that time. They gave the Slim Shady EP copy to CEO Jimmy Iovine who handed the song to Dr. Dre. After meeting the two artists meet, a recording deal has been signed and the Marshal Mathers LP catapulted Eminem into superstardom.
In 2002, Eminem has earned an Academy Award for Best Original Song in his lone movie entitled 8 Mile. Following his successes, there is a four and a half year gap between the releases of Encore and Relapse as he succumbed to drug addiction. In June 2010, Marshal Mathers has made a comeback through his well-received album Recovery.
Speculations about his dwindling finances have been floated around since his last album, the Grammy-winning "the Marshal Mathers LP 2" was released back in 2013. Currently, Eminem has been busy on his mobile application called Shady Wars. In addition, he is also working on music for a TV series.
