Rockstar cancels release of 'GTA 6', to focus on 'GTA 5'

The rumors about the release of the GTA 6 have somehow stopped after a series of reports hinting that Rockstar Games cancelled the development of the game and focus their attention on GTA 5.

In a report posted by Bitbag, it was found out that Rockstar Games did not show up at the latest PlayStation Meeting held in New York last week, an event where the announcement of the "GTA 6" is believed to happen. It also revealed that the developer decided not to go to the event and this was followed by a series of reports hinting that the development of the "Grand Theft Auto 6" was postponed.

An article posted by Christian Times described Rockstar Games' failure to show up at this year's PlayStation Meeting as one of the greatest blows that fans who have patiently waited for official updates on the potential release of "GTA 6".

For those who are concerned about the length of the postponement of the "GTA 6," a GameNGuide report hinted that the game is currently targeted for release on 2018. But because the reports that recently came out are not certain as to when exactly in 2018 will the speculated "GTA 6" be released, the fans are left with no option but to wait for it to come.

Although the cancellation of the release of "GTA 6" brought frustration to some fans, the same Christian Times report mentioned earlier said that researchers from Intel Labs and Darmstadt University in Germany have published a paper stating their efforts to obtain data from open-world games that will be used to train self-driving vehicles and this includes the "Grand Theft Auto V."

These researchers shared that open-world games such as the "GTA 5" have become very realistic to the point that these can now be utilized in training the computer vision systems to recognize real world objects such as lamp posts and pedestrians. Thus, a lot of gamers are expecting that Rockstar Games will devote all of its attention to further improve some features of the "GTA 5."
