James Bond Spoilers, News & Update: Priyanka Chopra says screw Bond girl, I can be James Bond

Bollywood star and Quantico's Priyanka Chopra previously expressed her interest in taking the role of James Bond, saying it's time that a woman takes the job.

Fans are going crazy speculating about who could fit the role of the British Secret Service agent. Since Daniel Craig, the latest James Bond, refused to reprise his role, Tom Hiddleston who recently played a spy in AMC's The Night Manager is a frontrunner candidate. Other fans, however, think a woman martini-drinking secret agent is quite interesting. The woman version of James Bond then will be called Jane Bond.

As per the report of Cinema Blend, Chopra, in particular, has shown interest in the role. The actress, however, emphasized that the producers should not change the character. She said in Refinery 29 that if the creators are to cast James Bond then it need to be James Bond.

"Look, it's a story about a British guy who happens to be a white dude." She added that a woman can play James Bond and keep the name, she does not need to be Jane.

"I know everything is about diversity right now. But I think it should be about humanity. It's 2016. It's so easy to separate ourselves and become smaller pieces of humanity. ...She should be James Bond, and she should be able to sell it. Why not?," the actress commented.

In an earlier interview with The Wrap, Chopra described the character of James Bond as this suave and sexy guy, rolling out with his martini and fancy cars, and kiddingly exclaimed, "Wow, it sounds like my full movie!"

Aside from Chopra, other actresses who showed an interest in portraying the coveted role are Emilia Clarke and Gillian Anderson. Vogue listed out British actresses who would be perfect to play 007, including Emily Blunt, Rosamund Pike, Gal Gadot, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Daisy Ridley, and Victoria Beckham.
