This Sunday, Sept. 18, KBS' variety show "1 Night 2 Days" continues its road trip theme. After their parody with "Descendants of the Sun", fans are excited as to what drama they will imitate this week.
"1 Night 2 Days" is number one in ratings of variety show in Korea. It premiered in August 2007 and airs every Sunday for almost 10 years. The show is part of KBS Happy Sunday with "Return of Superman."
Every week, audience is brought to laughter by cast members' behavior and various missions given to them to earn meal or avoid punishment.
Last week, they parody "Descendants of the Sun" by dividing team into volunteer medical service team and detached service team, similar to Dr. Kang medical teal and captain Yoo special force unit in the drama.
Cast members Kim Jun-Ho, Jung Jun-Young and Cha Tae-Yun is in the medical team, while Defconn, Kim Jong-Min and Yoon Dong-Gu joins the detached service team.
The members were given mission to re-enact the scene in the drama to earn their lunch. The winner will have saemgyetang, the Korean ginseng chicken soup, while losing team will only have army ration food.
Samgyetang is famous as a healthy food, not only in Korea but also overseas, according to Korea Joong Daily. The chicken soup is one of the famous export commodity in food sector beside kimchi. China is now the main target market, and since June, Korea has exported more 60 tons of samgyetang to China.
For the first episode of drama road trip, "2 Days 1 Night" went to Taebaek in Gangwondo province. They came to the filming location of "Descendants of the Sun" which now become a popular tourist destination as Yonhap News Agency reported.
On this Sunday episode, which is still in Chuseok or harvest festival, the cast members continue the road trip.
