'Law and Order: SVU' Season 18 airs Sept. 21 with US VP Joe Biden as guest star

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will guest as himself in "Law and Order: SVU" Season 18. "ER" alumni Anthony Edwards will also appear in the upcoming season which will serve as a mini reunion with co-cast member Mariska Hargitay. The premiere episode plot has been released by NBC.

According to International Business Times, Biden will officially make a cameo appearance as himself in the upcoming season. This is after cast member Mariska Hargitay shared a photo via her Twitter account with the politician.

The 52-year-old American actress did not reveal which episode Biden will appear but the Democratic VP will debut in an episode with an anti-domestic violence plot. Same as what the politician's advocacies in real life are.

In addition to that, Television MXDWN reported that "ER" alum Anthony Edwards will guest star in the police procedural, legal crime drama series. This will serve as a mini "ER" reunion with Mariska since the actress appeared in 13 episodes during the fourth season of the medical series.

As for the official plot synopsis of "Law and Order: SVU" Season 18 premiere episode "Terrorized", Carter Matt notes, "A young boy is found wandering alone in Central Park and the search for his parents leads to startling evidence of a planned mass casualty event in the city. As the SVU (Special Victims Unit) works with the joint-terrorism task force to find the suspects and the motive, Lt. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) must also convince Rafael Barba (Raúl Esparza) to address allegations of rape and torture the boy's mother discloses."

The upcoming episode is scheduled to premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 21, at 9:00 p.m. first and exclusive on NBC Network.
