BYU finished its season with an 8-4 record, including a regular-season finale victory over Nevada. BYU began its season strong, but struggled down the stretch while winning just two of its last four games. Nonetheless, the Cougars' accumulated enough wins to earn an invitation to the Fight Hunger Bowl.

"We are looking forward to the opportunity to play Washington in the Fight Hunger Bowl in San Francisco," BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall said, via ESPN. "I'm proud of our team. We are excited to be in the postseason for the ninth straight year with a chance to grow our program facing an outstanding football program."

Washington (8-4) won four of its last five games, including two straight wins to close out the regular season. The Huskies, however, will be without coach Steve Sarkisian, who accepted the head coaching job this month at USC.

Marques Tuiasosopo will handle the coaching duties for Washington in the interim, which includes Friday's bowl game.

"I'm humbled and so honored," said Tuiasosopo. "It's a great, incredible honor to lead my alma mater in a bowl game. We still have a lot to play for this season. I am excited to go out and get a ninth win."
