2013 saw a lot of popular TV shows kill off main characters. "Game of Thrones" had the Red Wedding, "Person of Interest" killed Detective-turned-Officer Carter, Brody was publicly hung on "Homeland" and the end of "Breaking Bad" coincided with the end of Walter White.
So, is it possible ABC's "Castle" will play the same tune in 2014?
According to TVLine.com, in the Jan. 6 episode the team is investigating a murder in which the victim seemed to be killed in a fire but was, in fact, fatally shot.
In a sneak peek provided exclusively to TVGuide.com, Beckett tells Ryan and Esposito to search a factory that's connected to the investigation while her and Castle head to question a pyro-enthusiast website owner. The owner posted a video of the aforementioned fire.
While Beckett and Castle were questioning the gentleman, he gets a news alert on his phone that a factory in Brooklyn has gone up in flames - the same factory Ryan and Esposito were searching.
When the detective and author arrive at the scene of the fire, the police chief tells them he can't go in to save Beckett's guys because the fire is too dangerous - he even had to pull out six of his own guys. Beckett and Castle are left with looks of the despair.
The camera flashes inside the building as Ryan and Espo lay on the floor, in the midst of the fire, unconscious.
TVLine.com reports Nicholas Bishop ("Body of Proof", "Home and Away") will guest start as the fire chief and Wendy Davis ("Army Wives", "Scandal") will also guest star. The website is also reporting Jenny, Ryan's wife, will go into labor.
Now, assuming Ryan and Esposito won't be killed of the show, how do they get out of this one?
