Emmy’s history of most outrageous snubs

With the 68th Annual Emmy Awards on the spotlight, anticipations on who will win this year's glamorous honors have everybody on the edge of their seat. Along with the list of deserving nominations comes a rich history of shocking rebuffs. Here's a glimpse of that outrageous past.

As part of the Sex and the City's fabulous four, Kim Cattrall has been nominated five times for her supporting role as Samantha Jones but she never took home the award. Meantime, the show has its glorious year in 2004 when Sarah Jessica Parker and Cynthia Nixon won the best actress and best supporting actress plums, respectively.

Steve Carrell has been a fixture as Michael Scott on The Office but he never got anything for his magnificent job. Although the show did win for best comedy writing, the best thing that happened to Carrell is to take home the Best Boss Ever recognition.

Meanwhile, Hugh Laurie is best known for his titular doctor role in House. Nominated six times for the best actor award, he has walked home empty-handed. It is also worth noting that the show has been rewarded for writing but never for being the best series of the year.

With six nominations for his role in The West Wing, Martin Sheen has been the ideal president but it amounted to nothing even though fellow co-stars Toby Ziegler, CJ Cregg, Josh Lyman and Leo McGarry have all been recognized for their acting prowess.

Tracy Morgan has had a colorful TV career. Although he has gotten his start on Martin and Saturday Night Live, his true legacy has been in 30 Rock as a leading funny man. Despite the fact that TGS with Tracy Morgan cannot continue in his absence, the actor has only nomination and zero award to his fame.

Her long-running role as Jessica Fletcher on Murder, She Wrote has made Angela Lansbury as everybody's favorite detective. However, twelve nominations for that role alone haven't given her anything. Although she won five Tony Awards, she has the dubious distinction of having lost more Emmy races for acting than any other performer with a staggering 18 times.

In its first eight seasons, Curb Your Enthusiasm has won only a couple of times for being nominated 38 times in the Emmy's. Among the losses are five bids for the acting plum for actor/creator Larry David.

Ed O'Neill has performed for the Married with Children TV sitcom for more than a decade but never got even a nomination. On the other hand, Courtney Cox has felt that sting when co-stars Lisa Kudrow and Jennifer Aniston were nominated for the Emmy's in 2001. Being on the Friends' set for eleven seasons has got her nothing.
