Police in New York are still searching for a man who escaped custody on Friday after being arrested for having drugs in his car, the New York Daily News reported.
According to cops, 23-year-old William Monge-Betancourt wrestled out of an officer's hold and ran across the Cross Bronx Expressway.
Officers tried pulling him over around 10 p.m. that evening after they saw him speeding in Harlem. However, he refused to stop, leading police to chase him all the way to the Cross Bronx Expressway.
After he finally stopped in Inwood, police found marijuana and molly in his possession. Though police prepared to take him into custody, he escaped one of the officer's grasp -- injuring his hand -- and ran.
However, a passenger in Monge-Betancourt's car -- 24-year-old Eric Gonzalez -- was arrested and charged with possession marijuana and narcotics.
Monge-Betancourt is described as an Hispanic male, standing at 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call NYPD's Crime Stoppers tipline at (800) 577 - TIPS.
