'The Young and The Restless': Justin Hartley quits show; Former cast member reclaims role

Cast member Justin Hartley confirmed his exit in "The Young and The Restless" Season 44. On the bright side, Jerry Douglas will appear as a ghost on Monday. Aside from that, the official plot description of September 26, 2016, the episode has been revealed.

Justin Hartley officially exits "The Young and The Restless". The 39-year-old American actor left the daytime soap to venture on his newfound career.

With that being said, rumors ignited that Michael Muhney might reclaim his role, Parent Herald has learned. On the contrary, Jerry Douglas will reappear in the upcoming episode of "The Young and The Restless".

According to Celebrity Dirty Laundry, the 83-year old American TV and film actor will make a ghostly return in the show's Monday episode. Douglas plays the role of John Abbott, the patriarch of the Abbott family who died in the show on August 18, 2006.

On the other hand, the official plot synopsis of episode 018 notes, "Sharon Collins Newman Abbott (Sharon Case) and Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) will end up playing matchmaker with Nicholas 'Nick' Newman (Joshua Morrow) and Chelsea Lawson Newman (Melissa Claire Egan).

Chloe Mitchell Ashby Abbott Fisher (Elizabeth Hendrickson) is going to give Chelsea a heads up about Sharon Collins Newman Abbott (Sharon Case) and Faith. GC Buzz will call Devon Hamilton Winters (Bryton James) out of trying to stop the tabloid from running stories on Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman).

Devon is going to purchase GC Buzz to surprise Hilary Curtis (Mishael Morgan). Faith will get thrown a big birthday bash, and Phyliss Summers Abbott Newman (Gina Tognoni) is going to show some support for her mother."
