Jose Fernandez, Miami Marlins' star player, disclosed about girlfriend's pregnancy six days before the boating accident that killed him on Sep. 25.
Fernandez posted a picture of pregnant Carla in a beach in the Instagram on Sep. 19. The picture revealed that Carla may be in the 18 weeks of her pregnancy with Jose's baby.
Carla and Jose's relationship was very private with only little information about her. It remained unknown how long they had been together as couple. While photos and videos of Jose revealed him as a nice looking baseball pitcher, few photos of Carla revealed her as an eye-catching young gal with her glowing skin and long black hair.
They were seen together in a photo where she ran into the Miami baseball field, embrace and kissed him to celebrate his becoming the first pitcher in Major League Baseball history to win his first 17 home starts. Jose and Carla would really be a wonderful combination.
People who are close to them were touched by the message posted by Jose on Carla's picture showing her baby bump, "I'm ready for where this journey is gonna take us together. #familyfirst."
Miami Marlins team including the manager, coaches and teammates are in a mournful state as they share and recall precious moments they had with Jose, a promising young hopeful player. The match between the team and Atlanta Braves was cancelled because of the incident.
Jose Fernandez would not only be remembered by his pitching glamour but he was also noted for three times attempt for defecting Cuba, his original country, where he succeeded in 2008. He enrolled in Braullo Alonso High School in Tampa, Florida and joined Marlins in 2011.
