Apple is pushing harder to develop new innovative fitness tracking apps in its wearable smart watches in order to be at a superior position as it is in the smartphone market. Right now, Fitbit is Apple's strongest rival in the fitness tracking wearable device market.
Apple's iWatch has been ridden by battery problem and has been rendered unable to track sleep as well. But now, the California tech giant is trying to build its momentum in coming up with the best fitness apps to its smartwatch to maximize its use with more sensible features. With the recent release of iWatch 2, the company claims it has improved its battery life and equipped it with an OS 3 software with a 24-hour of running life on a single charge.
The new iWatch has all the capabilities to track the wearer's heart rate during workouts, or at any time upon the wearer's request. This feature is now common among fitness tracking devices from different companies. "The iPhone maker is working on new apps for the Apple Watch. One helps users track sleep patterns." a report by Bloomberg said.
The new app under development for the new iWatch functions to track sleeping patterns as well as monitor other advanced health features. The app will be designed to measure the time taken for the heart to get it to the normal rate accurately after any heavy workout. If combined with information about the wearer's height and weight details, the app will give accurate health and fitness tracking results.
The reports also claim that the watch can be turned down to power-saving mode where only wearer's movements and heart rate are recorded. Apple need to develop such a battery for its smartwatch that can stay alive for more than 24 hours so as not to require the wearer to give it a full charge for the following day.
