The American investigative series Criminal Minds hits the newsstands once more as new characters are soon going to be applauded in the show.
The Behavioral Unit Analysis (BAU) has got a permanent replacement for Thomas Gibson who played the role of Aaron Hotchner, the BAU Unit Chief and Senior Supervisory Special Agent. And has decided to cast Damon Gupta instead.
CBS recently announced the amendments that have taken place in the series. The decision was implemented when Thomas Gibson, the original cast member was fired following a physical quarrel on the set, reports E! News.
Gibson was overruled to appear in the two episodes of the 12th season following an on-set disagreement with the writer-producer. The argument arose because of the creative differences in an episode as Thomas Gibson took the lead for six episodes of Criminal Minds.
Following the series of confrontation, ABC Studio and CBS Television ( which is responsible in co-distributing the series) announced that Gibson's contract with the series has been terminated, thus, putting a question mark to the role of Aaron Hotchner.
Damon Gupta will be hitting the screens shortly as he will make his debut appearance in the eight episode of season 12. Gupta's appearance as Special Agent Stephen Walker is highly anticipated, especially keeping in mind how he will make use of his instinct skills as well as his spy-hunting knacks altogether.
"Our BAU family is growing," showrunner Erica Messer said in a statement. "We're excited to have Damon join the show and work alongside our amazing cast and crew."
Damon Gupta was previously associated with roles in Bates Motel, Empire, and the upcoming series Goliath.
The fluctuations and alterations within the cast of Criminal Minds is not a first. Previously, Adam Rodriguez joined the show as a series regular in order to replace Shemar Moore, who exited the show in March after 11 complete seasons.
Moreover, Paget Brewster as Emily Prentiss has also been welcomed as a series regular.
Criminal Minds airs every Wednesday at 9pm on CBS.
