Apple face lawsuit over iPhone 6 'touch disease'

The number of frustrated iPhone 6 users is growing. A class lawsuit is currently in motion since August after glitches in touchscreen functionality have kept people from fully using the Apple devices.

The troubling discomfort of being unable to use the iPhone has been dubbed as touch disease. The truth is, this predicament depicts a technical burden that makes the gadget unresponsive.

Indication of the touchscreen impediment primarily starts with a flickering gray bar that surfaces across the top part of the screen in iPhone 6 units. This disturbance eventually gets worse as functionality is altogether lost. Reports say that this issue is caused by accidents usually associated with dropping the unit on a hard surface. Others quip that getting the iPhone bended inside a pocket also damages it.

The case filed against Apple accuses the Cupertino-based tech giant that it kept clients in the dark about the material design defect in the unit. In a released statement, the company's bid to keep the iPhone 6 stylish in shape has failed to secure the touch circuits on the logic board properly. Chip communication has been spotty and has led to the machine's inability to translate touch commands. Experts say that the conversion of taps and swipes into digital actions depends on two touch-screen controller chips. Compared to the previous models, which has a sticking mechanism that keeps the motherboard intact, the iPhone 6 has its logic base vulnerable to various pressure and disturbances.

According to an Apple insider, touch disease accounts for around 11 percent of the company's repairs which makes it the single biggest daily service controversy.

The case against the tech company goes beyond the faulty function glitch. Manufacturers have offered clients a couple of options. One, high repair costs have been incurred for those who wanted to remedy the problem. Charges up to $300 have been quoted. Two, handset replacement has done nothing to alleviate the issue. Reinstalling of software fails to solve the touchscreen trouble as the screen continues to freeze half the time. Complications only add up as third party or outside technicians are not allowed to provide solutions.
