The body of a driver was discovered on Thursday after crashing on a freeway and into the Tujunga Wash in California, NBC Southern California reported.
Officials from the Los Angeles Fire Department made the discovery around 7:15 a.m. after an off-duty firefighter spotted the scene. Reports say the motorist crashed off the northbound 101 Freeway, hitting bushes and trees before plowing through a fence and into the wash, falling on it's side.
Brian Humphrey of the LAFD said they're unsure if any other vehicles were involved in the accident and added there was "no obvious collision on the freeway."
The driver, only identified as a 31-year-old male from Woodland Hills, died at the scene. His body was trapped in the wreck and needed to be extricated. According to California Highway Patrol Officer Leland Tang, the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
The Tujunga Wash is a 13-mile long tributary of the Los Angeles River.
