Names getting more attention as potential coaching candidates include Jim Caldwell, Jack Del Rio, Ken Whisenhunt, Josh McDaniels and Dan Quinn, Pro Football Talk and CBS Sports report.
Cleveland fired coach Rob Chudzinski on Sunday after finishing the season with a 4-12 record. Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn was reportedly interviewed on Wednesday and Patriots offensive coordinator and former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels is scheduled to be interviewed on Saturday, according to PFT.
The Browns also are interested in Broncos offensive coordinator Adam Gase, ex-Lions coach Jim Schwartz, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn and Vanderbilt coach James Franklin. CBS Sports confirmed the aforementioned names and said Cleveland is also interested in Chargers offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt.
Detroit, which once sat atop the NFC North before a late-season collapse, fired Schwartz on Black Monday. The Lions are reportedly interested in Ravens offensive coordinator and ex-Colts coach Jim Caldwell, Seahawks offensive line coach Tom Gable and Whisenhunt. The team has been interested in Lovie Smith, who was hired on Wednesday by Tampa Bay.
Minnesota parted with coach Leslie Frazier on Monday and are expected to interview Quinn and Seahawks offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell. The Vikings are also interested in Gase and Broncos defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio.
After a 3-13 season filled with drama and controversy, Washington fired coach Mike Shanahan on Monday. The Redskins have already spoken with Bevell and are scheduled to interview Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott and Caldwell within the coming week, according to ESPN.
Washington requested permission from the New York Giants to interview defensive coordinator Perry Fewell.
Smith agreed to a four-year deal on Wednesday with the Buccaneers, and Penn State coach Bill O'Brien agreed to terms on Tuesday with the Houston Texans.
