The rivalry between technological companies continues to heighten as Google recently announced its bid to unravel its new product lines. The move signals a new direction for the search engine giant.
Google's involvement in previous projects focus more on supplying android and related systems to organizations that manufacture items. Although the California-based group attempted to produce their own hardware, the distribution process has been limited. Flops have happened along the way.
However, a turnaround is in the horizon as Google dauntlessly take on the challenges of designing and selling the devices they manufacture. Taking cue on what Apple has accomplished during the last decade with the iPhones and the iPads, the search engine company seeks to integrate their hardware and software operations smoothly.
It is perceived that Google will be investing heavily on promoting their product lines. The coming months can be the biggest marketing operation for the organization's 18-year history.
In San Francisco, executives have unveiled a string of devices. Included are a new WiFi router, a virtual reality headset named Daydream View, Chromecast's software update for video streaming and the new Pixel phones which will be pitted against the iPhones. The unit will also take on the biggest manufacturer of android devices which is Samsung. Getting in the mix with the South Korean tech manufacturer will definitely be a tall order considering that Samsung has been constantly adding new software applications for their items.
The Pixel will be replacing the Nexus brand which has been launched six years ago. In promoting the new phones, Google emphasizes a camera that is better than the iPhone. Aside from highlighting a battery with sustaining power, the company is out to garner the fan base of the headphone jack which Apple eliminated in its latest productions. Verizon will join Play Store in selling the Pixel.
Meanwhile, the search engine group throws itself in the mix with the introduction of its virtual helper. Since Apple's Siri and Amazon's Alexa have been making waves in the market, the tech giant introduces the Google Assistant. Aside from managing the smart speaker Google Home, the voice-activated program will be handling other tasks for Google's product lines. With around 70 billion data stockpiled in its system, the Assistant is projected to be better than its competitors.
